The life and times of Chad Ruddick
I'm often asked about my past and how I became a teacher at North Middle School. I try to provide the short version here in this biography. I must say up front to all who ask, I never saw myself as a teacher. I had a tough time with teachers as I went through school and often got very bored with the things they felt were extremely important. After attending Columbus Unified High School, I graduated in 2001. Three short years later, I graduated from PSU with my Bachelor's degree in Pre-law. I pursued the Master's degree in Criminal Justice. After graduating, I accepted the position of "Alzheimer's Care Director" in a nursing home in Anderson, MO. I was 23 at the time and learned a great deal from the residents and staff in the nursing home. I was very successful at my job and was recruited in October of 2006 to be "Regional Outreach Coordinator for the Alzheimer's Association" in Joplin.
Many great things happened while attending PSU. I met and married a wonderful woman named Jennifer Bowin. Together, we started a family with our son Hayden in 2006. In March of 2007, I was accepted to law school at Thomas M. Cooley in Lansing, MI. It was very exciting to be in law school, but we decided to move back to Joplin. After a short time, we welcomed our little girl Lily into the world in May 2009.
After going back to PSU for my Master's in Teaching, I was asked to be part of the North Middle School family as the new 8th grade Reading teacher. I greatly enjoy being in the classroom and teaching people new things in an exciting way.
